Peace Corps Ukraine is a US government agency and seeks qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Back-up Medical Provider in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Peace Corps seeks a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner to provide clinical care for Peace Corps Volunteers and Trainees during temporary absences of a Peace Corps Medical Officer. The back-up provider will provide direct patient care; referrals to outside medical consultants or facilities; and assist with administrative and health education tasks. The back-up healthcare provider may be required to carry an emergency duty phone and/or be on call over weekends/evenings, as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and manage medical emergencies
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute medical conditions at an out-patient clinic or by phone
- Administer immunizations (when needed) and conduct administrative duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner
- Citizen of Ukraine
- 3 years of recent unsupervised primary care experience at a medical practice or in a hospital clinic setting
- Ability to work effectively as part an intercultural team
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian;
- Experience working with foreigners (preferably Americans);
- Excellent communication skills;
- Willingness to work as part of a team;
- Flexible schedule
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
